Cold, Crisp, Sunny Oxford
Chris and a minibus of students enjoyed a lovely, cold, crisp, sunny day in Oxford. The 'City of Spires' showed itself beautifully in the winter sunlight.

All new Racketball!
We've added a new sport this winter.
Charlie Campbell from 2 Riversmeet Leisure Centre has led us in monthly sessions of Racketball.
For those that don't know, it's a game a bit like squash but with a shorter racket and played indoors on a squash court. Great fun, and keeps us all fit!

Something for everyone in London
Teacher Naomi and a group of students spent the day in London on Saturday. A great time was had by all - experiencing the tube for the first time, buying souvenirs, watching the changing of the guards, taking a tour of Westminster and Buckingham Palace and finishing off with a night time stroll along the riverbank.
As well as all that, some visited Madame Tussauds, some went shopping in Covent Garden and Oxford Street, while others walked round China Town and took a boat trip along the Thames to Tower Bridge. A tiring but thoroughly enjoyable day!

New Student Lounge opens its doors!
Our returning students and those that have joined us since the New Year are enjoying the benefits of our new Student Lounge!
For those who remember Room 5, it has been transformed - new windows to the river, patio doors onto the garden, bright red sofas, bistro tables and a lick of paint! As the weather improves we plan a stone patio and new lawn. It is great for students to have a place to call their own and in which they can unwind and relax.

We march on, installing top of the range IWBs in each classroom.
This latest IWB has been installed in our new classroom, a space that used to be the Staff Room. The staff are comfortably accommodated elsewhere now, and students will soon enjoy a classroom that has been completely refurbished - new ceiling, window, carpet...
Teacher, Rob, took time out of his Christmas holiday to oversee the installation and then to play with the technology! He loves it!
Christmas Party!
Although it is always sad to say goodbye to students at the end of a course, 2011 finished on a high note with the CELC Christmas party.
We all enjoyed lots of food, including three wonderfully round Christmas puddings, class skits - some of which were really very funny (Will we ever forget the Three Kings - Ju King, Steve King and ViKing?!) - performed on the stage , Christmas crackers, laughter, hugs and photos. And the teachers' skit - what can we say?! At least it concluded with the reading of the nativity from the Bible.
We say goodbye to many wonderful students and reflect on all the lovely people that have spent a couple of weeks or perhaps most of the year with us at CELC. Have a happy, peaceful and blessed Christmas!
New extra classroom for 2012
While the school is less busy builders have been helping us create a new classroom.
With plenty of students joining CELC courses through 2011 we are very keen to ensure that we have enough space for all those who want to join us in 2012. The Staff Room has been moved into an attic space (which is also being nicely refurbished!) allowing the space previously used as the Staff Room to become a brand new classrroom.
A new ceiling has been fitted, along with new windows, re-plastered walls, new carpet and, of course, our next interactive whiteboard.
